Biomass Energy Green Low-Carbon Energy Base

The project is supported by the United Nations Industrial Development (UNIDO) and dominated by International Energy Conservation Environmental Protection Association (IEEPA) and Inner Mongolia Maowusu Biomass Cogeneration Co., Ltd.

This project takes desert stubble waste biomass as a raw material and converts it run a biomass power plant.  In total 360 million yuan in Wushen Banner has been invested of which 280 million yuan successfully operates a biomass power plant with an installed capacity of 2 x 15 MW.

The plant, the world's first desert biomass power plant, was connected to the grid in 2008 and formally entered a commercial operation phase in 2009. The plant is able to generate 200 million kWh of green electricity every year and the annual income is 140 million yuan. This is 3 to 4 times as much as a wind power plant or solar power plant with the same installed capacity therefore it is the most controllable project of renewable energy power generation currently available. The stability of biomass cogeneration plants cannot exist without a constant supply of high-quality raw materials, along with advanced, mature and appropriate generation technology with a sustainable waste cycle.
